May 2024

Dear Supporters,
Greetings to you all in the lovely name of Jesus Christ our Lord! What a privilege it is to come to you each month via this prayer letter and give you a report about the activities of this ministry. We count it an honor to represent you in the harvest field of the Great Commission!
The month of May was a difficult month for me due to an unexpected surgery. After a routine medical test, they found a large polyp in my colon that had to be removed. Due to its size, they said the safest course of action would be to extract that part of the colon where the polyp was located and then reattach it. Having never had any surgery, I had no idea what I was in for. Nevertheless, on April the 30th the operation was performed. They took out eight inches of the transverse and descending portion of my colon and sent it to pathology, after examining it they determined there was no cancer. I ended up spending three days in the hospital and I found the beginning of my recovery much more difficult than I anticipated.
The doctor told me that it would take a month to fully heal up and that my activity should be restricted to focusing on getting rest and healing up. I decided to be a good patient and heed his advice, although I was chomping at the bit to get back on the road! I had a full slate of meetings scheduled and had to cancel all four of them, this was extremely hard for me because I hate not to be able to fulfill my obligations. Nevertheless, it is what the doctor ordered, and it is what was best for the situation I was in. He told me that even when I heal up on the outside that I needed to allow more time for the inside to heal and he was right.
The Lord used this whole situation to teach me a lesson, and that is that I am human and subject to physical limitations. It is my responsibility to pay attention to my health, and if I do not, I will pay the price. I am not as young as I used to be, and I can no longer ignore it.
In closing. Allow me to thank each one of you for your prayer and financial support, without it we could not do what God has called us to do. Joni and I love all of you dearly!
Brother Mark Thrift
